My Journey to Becoming a Helping Babies Breathe Master Trainer

By Joyce Vogel

This photo was taken almost five years ago, when both Brenda and I (Joyce) needed our final Helping Babies Breathe class before becoming trainers.

We were both preparing for upcoming trips to low resource countries and needed to complete the class before we left—even though it was right in the middle of COVID. So, to stay within the guidelines, Sarah and Kelsey held our class outdoors in a covered barn. It was cold. Even with our coats, we had blankets wrapped around us!

If you’re interested in becoming a Master Trainer for Helping Babies Breathe or any of the other global health classes, here’s how it works:

First, you take the class.

The second time, you help teach.

The third time, you lead the class while a Master Trainer supervises you.

This is the recommended process for becoming a Master Trainer. We want you to really know the material—and feel confident teaching it.

All of the global health classes are designed to be easy to teach and easy to share with others. If you're interested in taking a class or becoming a Master Trainer, contact us!
